Día de los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a holiday that focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. The holiday is celebrated in Mexico and by Mexican-Americans in the United States.

On November 2 in honor of Dia de los Muertos The Volcano (2349 Bissonnet St) will be hosting a fundraiser with the proceeds going to a local school in need. They will be auctioning off decorated crosses. The crosses start at $25.00.

Danny and I were asked if we would decorate a wooden cross for the auction taking place at The Volcano. Of course we jumped right in and actually had a ton of fun creating our crosses. Danny did such an awesome job- I am in awe of his creative talent! I had no idea!

Danny went with the traditional theme and did his online research before creating his cross. I just went with my signature bling and stickles.

Here is a picture of the beginning cross after Danny spray painted them black.

Here are some in progress pictures

And our finished product. Don’t you just love those spider webs Danny added to his cross?! I am thinking we might end up bidding on our own crosses!
